Urban Forest
The urban forest is a concept representing the trees and other wild life in all urban areas. Not all cities are equally forested and this is not just a matter of open space. The first factor to consider is; how dedicated is a city to its trees? One example is the city of Thousand Oaks CA. The city of Thousand Oaks states "The City of Thousand Oaks regards the preservation of its oaks, landmark trees, and the urban forest in general as a primary responsibility and objective. Firm guidelines have been established to promote such preservation..." After a start like this, it is no wonder that Thousand Oaks is covered in mature trees. City parks are one of the more obvious locations for urban forest property, but a park alone does not necessarily make for a strong urban forest. For example, a park that is all grass and play equipment will have little strength in terms of an urban forest. There is a limitless list of locations where urban forest can be created in every city. Just keep yours eyes and your mind open.
